About Us

The Writer's Notebook

As Indie publishing becomes ever more popular, getting your books seen among the masses of others online is a challenge in itself. The Writer's Notebook is a place for writers to share and promote their work, and a place for people who like to read to find great books or short stories from unheard of writers.

At The Writer's Notebook you can meet other writers (experienced and new) and join in with daily writing prompts and fun challenges to get your creative juices flowing.

But how are we different?

  • We passionately believe that writers shouldn't have to pay to enter competitions, or be tricked into spending their hard-earned cash to promote their work - after all writing is seriously underpaid work until you make it big. Why should you spend money to get noticed?
  • We will promote your novels and short stories for free via our Writer of the Month and Short Story of the Week pages plus whenever you enter one of our challenges you can link to your social media or Amazon author page giving you exposure to hundreds of new potential readers.
  • If you have any published books available for download, you can add them to our growing list to bring you new readers.
  • We will be coming up with lots of fun activities for you to join which will give our readers a taste of your writing style.
  • And our monthly short story competition will always be free to enter.

Sandra Rose - Editor and Creator of The Writer's Notebook

I had my dream job for over ten years, working in a busy bookshop on London's Charing Cross Rd: Shipley Booksellers, an art specialist bookshop and the inspiration for JK Rowling's Flourish and Blott's. When the shop closed due to rising rents I had a change of career, and begun bookkeeping for a highly respected, leading fabric retailer in the heart of Soho.

Following the birth of my son in 2011, I gave up work to concentrate on my degree, and being a full-time mother. I graduated from the Open University with a BA Hons Degree in English Literature in 2014.

I live in Hackney, London. U.K. and I am currently working as the bookkeeper for an exciting recruitment agency. I came up with the concept of The Writer's Notebook and it's unique writing competition on a Winter's afternoon as a way of meeting like-minded writers around the world.

I am currently working on my debut novel and I have independently published a small collection of short stories: The Velvet Cigar available on Amazon.
